Action, called "Burning Painting/Anamorphosis", was carried out on 8 February 1990. (In Slovenia, 8 February is the National Day of Culture, and everyone celebrates it.) You know that the tendency to destroy cultural heritage is present throughout the history, especially in the Western history. History is not only the time of great and marvelous works and monuments, history is also HYSTERIA. We know about this dark side of human beings, the evil deeds in the history and in the present. In many periods of human history, the cultures of certain nations were systematically destroyed and wiped out. The history of culture has always known creation and destruction at the same time. There is also anonymity in the history - not only remembering, but also lots of erasing, forgetting, and emptiness. And to burn a painting is a gesture pointing to this traumatic, dark side of human cultural history in which stages of creation alternate with periods of its negation.
